The popularity of CBD among people is undeniable. But it turns out pet owners are choosing it for their animal companions as well.

Businesses are seeing a surge in demand for CBD-infused pet products. According to Mashable, BarkShop, the sister company of BarkBox, became the first online retailer to sell CBD products for dogs earlier this year. Since the March introduction, sales have been strong, according to the site.

“We’re really seeing our wellness category grow,” Melissa Seligmann, BarkShop’s GM said. “It’s already grown 100 percent within the four months that we’ve had it live.”

According to Mashable: “Bark, BarkShop’s parent company, was excited about pushing its wellness market further with the inclusion of CBD products but questioned how the new products would be received. BarkShop’s line of CBD products completely sold out in a day. ‘We sold out of all our initial inventory that we bought for a two-month run on day one, and we’ve had a hard time keeping it [CBD supplies] in stock,’ Seligmann said.”

And dogs aren’t the only pets to get the benefits of CBD. According to South Bend, Indiana’s WSBT, PetReleaf makes products for cats as well as dogs. The station reports: “Becki Curtis started using Pet Releaf’s product 6 months ago. ‘I have a cat who is terminally ill with some kind of cancer and I give it to him to help him sleep and be more comfortable, and eat more, and just live a happier life.’ Curtis says she’s seen a noticeable difference in her cat’s overall well-being.’We tried everything at the vet’s office from steroids to antibiotics, and certain types of things which make him lethargic or sick to his stomach. With this I don’t get any of those side effects.’”

It’s exactly the kind of testimonial people have about CBD when they try it for themselves.
